Throughout the SET weekend, an Eastern New York Section Emergency
Coordination net operated on 3.9935 MHz (75 meters). For a more limited
period a VHF net operated on the 145.25 MHz Northeast Connect
linked repeater system.
The EOC checked in on the ENY 75 meter net during the local drill and
originated traffic to the State Emergency Management Office in Albany
announcing opening of several reception centers. (Traffic received by
N2YJZ.)
The EOC also transmitted one of the NWS bulletins via packet radio
to KR2L (near Albany).
During the Sunday 75m nets, the following traffic was passed:
- 0900
- Check in on NY State RACES net and receive one test message.
- 1000
- Check in on ENY 75 meter net and originate ``book'' of 21
notifying all ENY ECs, DECs, SEC, SM, and STM that Westchester might
need mutual aid relief operators. Also sent one to ARC Albany direct.
- 1030
- Reply from Saratoga County EC.
- 1345
- After failing to check in on ENY 2m net on 145.25 MHz,
contacted N2TWN and passed book of 21 notifying same group that they
would not be needed. This traffic was passed partially on the ENY 2m
net as well as on the regular 2m traffic nets (HVN and SDN).
Five or six additional replies to the above NTS traffic arrived through
the NTS system on Sunday and Monday.
